Alone

Lisa, Alaina, and Heather, my roommates, are all gone. So is nearly everyone else; it feels tremendously strange. I like to pretend they just left for a couple days and that I am not myself leaving any time soon. This is outside our flat, at the Intercollege Hostel, by far the awesomest place to live in town. I'm going to miss it so much. I did change my ticket though, so I leave this Friday, rather than tomorrow as I had so incorrectly originally planned. Maybe this week I get less lazy and actually post some pictures!

The Akamas Peninsula

A friend and I found a "traditional boat tour" which drove alongside the coast and stopped for several hours for swimming in the "Blue Lagoon" and a traditional lunch. It was one of the most relaxing days of my whole life.

Hell yeah I'll have a slice! (By the way, he scrubbed raw garlic on them just like Mom and Dave do! My friend had never heard of such a thing. I felt so lucky to come from such an intelligent family.)

Best lunch ever. Like, EVER.
Nothing is quite as awesome as a Greek dance party with the chef to traditional music.

The Giants are Coming!!

Kyrenia

The Kyrenia (Turkish side) harbor presents one with the all-important question: Efes beer (blue) or Carlsberg (green)?

I'm feeling a pretty strong urge to watch Captain Ron.

The Kyrenia Castle is really lovely.

And what castle is complete without mannequins being tortured?

The guy above is set up looking down on the woman below.
Super creepy.

It's hard to tell with the picture this size, but someone threw her a pepsi can. How considerate; I bet she's thirsty!

Napping in the shade: nothing in the world sounds better than that.

It Was the Summer of '07

Yeah..."fantastic" doesn't even begin to describe it...
Wow.
I'm actually not exaggerating when I say his voice sounds amazing - somehow it really hasn't changed since the eighties. I wasn't expecting the songs to sound so downright rocking live.

You wish you had this shirt.
A and J got slightly less cool shirts than I, but that's okay.

Not just probably, I'd even go so far as to say quite likely.

All lit up, he looks sort of like an angel, doesn't he?

While I don't have any shots of myself jumping around or dancing at the concert, my moves probably resembled those of these weirdos I saw recently on the Mall...

It was really impossible to get clear pictures. Sorry.

Some people were really excited about Bryan.

He played (thumpingly) every song I knew, and then a bunch more that I had never heard. But the Cypriots and others sure knew the words. It was so great.

Kourion and Paphos

Why have the Mediterranean behind the stage? So that when the whole town was gathered for a play, they could see invading forces!

Most of Cyprus looks like the above.

Ah, free banana shots... I have to say, they looked a lot more appetizing in the moment than they do as I look at this picture. They tasted like little runts candies!

Niyati enjoys the most delicious dessert in all the land. I wish I could take nonblurry pictures after drinking wine.
How did this manage to come out so eery!

Beverages should never look like this. No!

And then I had this conversation with this British girl (she must have been drinking from those fishbowls too). You have to imagine a drunk screaming trashy British accent to get the correct effect:
"You're Americans!! Oh my god, do you know, what's the name of that British girl that Ross married! You know, on Friends!"
Why do I have to know these things? "Emily."
"EMILY!!! YES, EMILY!! Oh my god, Americans always tell me I sound like Emily!! You don't think I sound like Emily! Do I!?!"
Her friend enters: "OH MY GOD, you know EMILY!! From Friends!! The girl Ross married!! We don't sound anything like her, DO WE?"
